What is a Salvation?

A lot of times, Christians use words that others don’t really understand. It is not that Christians are smarter and have to talk like that, it is just words that non-Christians do not use on a regular basis. One such word is SALVATION.A man asked me one time about salvation. He looked at me an asked; “Salvation from what?” If you would like to know why salvation is so important please continue to read. I guess the best place to start is with God Himself.

God is Holy!!! The word Holy means that God is perfect and worthy of our praise and worship. There is no fault in God. He is the one we must answer to. Our lives exist because of Him. Now, as people, we are the opposite of God. We are unholy. We continuously do things that displease God. This is what the Bible calls sin. The Bible says:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

Each and every person has displeased God. A lot of folks don’t understand how serious this is. See, every time we sin against God, we are basically shaking our fist at Him and saying; “I don’t need you!!!” God loves us and cares for us but we continuously reject His love. The Bible plainly shows us that rejection of God comes with a price.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23

I like to explain the word death as simply, separation. When we die physically, our soul is separated from our body. In Romans 6:23, we learn that the price of our sin is eternal separation from God. Not only are you separated from God for all eternity; there will be punishment for those that reject God.

“And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” – Revelation 20:15

The great thing is that you do not have to be eternally separated from God. Because of this sin, we deserve this punishment. But the amazing thing is that God loves us and does not want this to happen to us. He provided a way that we could be forgiven or saved from our sins.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

It is hard to believe that Jesus would die for our sins, but He did. See, Jesus came to the earth and lived a perfect sinless life. Then He offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins. He gave His life so that we might live. After He shed his blood on a cross for our sins, He was buried. Three days later, He arose from the dead and walked this earth. He later went back to heaven as the true living God. If you would like to be forgiven for your sins and have the assurance of eternal life with God, please read the following scriptures.

“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.       I Corinthians 10 :9-10

“For "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." – I Corinthians 10:13

God has done everything He can do; you must now make the decision. Do you want to continue rejecting God and one day pay the price or would you rather make Jesus Christ number one in your life and be blessed with eternal life? Salvation can be yours today!!!
